Beautiful Letters
(Owlery)
"'Beautiful letters' is by far the largest and most time- consuming piece of hand-drawn typography I have ever attempted" (Rose Wannan).
The design was originally created on the computer and then drawn by hand with pencil onto paper. On paper, the design was modified to suit the surface and placed into a grid structure. The grid was then transferred onto the blackboard using string and the design was slowly filled in over two days, the entire process taking over twenty hours in total.
This process was also recorded through photographs taken every twenty seconds, creating a stop motion recording of the entire process.
